Who You Are
You are an experienced legal professional with expertise in property and planning law. You serve as the principal source of expertise for the Council in these areas, providing guidance on landlord and tenant matters, deeds of easement, wayleaves, collective enfranchisement, leasehold extensions, right to buy transactions, planning agreements, community infrastructure regulations, highways agreements, compulsory purchase orders, and matters of appropriation. Additionally, you are familiar with local government legislation related to the acquisition and disposal of land, including obtaining necessary consents from other public bodies.
What the job involves
In this role, you lead and manage the Council's legal caseload related to property and planning. You handle complex legal matters, advising at all levels of the Council, and taking charge of drafting, negotiating, and executing necessary documentation. You provide strategic and operational advice, ensuring the creation and maintenance of relevant policies and documents. You gather, appraise, and disseminate information on new legislation, case law, and developments, reporting the practical effects of changes in law to relevant committees and clients. Additionally, you prepare reports for and advise the Council's cabinet and committees.
