What the Job Involves
This role involves assessing planning applications, conducting necessary site visits, and preparing detailed written reports and recommendations. You will manage major development proposals, handle planning appeals, and represent the Council during Informal Hearings and Public Inquiries. Providing pre-application advice, negotiating agreements under S.106 of the Town and Country Planning Act, and addressing planning inquiries from both public and private entities are key responsibilities. You'll also act as a Duty Planning Officer on a rota basis, ensuring effective management of planning issues, including handling correspondence from MPs and Councillors.
