What the Job Involves
This role is statutory and aims to safeguard children and young people at risk of significant harm as defined by the Children Act 1989. You will undertake casework, identify risks, manage interventions, and secure alternative homes for children when necessary. The role includes direct work with children and families, undertaking assessments, and potentially engaging in court work under S47 and CP, PLO processes. It requires building effective relationships in a variety of settings, managing conflicting demands, and participating positively in supervision and practice development.
Skills
- Degree in Social Work, registered with a professional body
- Knowledge of legislative frameworks for child and family social work
- Experience in working in statutory settings
- Understanding of child development and assessing risk and need
- Effective communication skills and relationship building
- Excellent time management and prioritization abilities
- Ability to manage challenging situations and promote resilience
- Experience with service users facing distress and challenging behavior
