Who You Are
You are a qualified and experienced professional with a passion for supporting victims of domestic abuse. With a Level 3 Accredited Qualification in supporting victims of domestic abuse and at least two years of post-qualification experience, you are skilled at navigating complex systems and providing trauma-informed, high-quality support to those at risk. Your knowledge of domestic abuse legislation, safeguarding frameworks, and justice processes allows you to advocate effectively for victims' needs.
What the Job Involves
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA), you will provide comprehensive, independent support to victims of domestic abuse. Your role will include conducting risk assessments, planning and delivering personalized support, and advocating for victims within the criminal justice system and other relevant services. You will be instrumental in the establishment and operation of the Barnet Domestic Abuse Support Hub (BDASH), coordinate with multi-agency teams to ensure holistic support, and work proactively to ensure the safety of victims. Additionally, you'll participate in strategic forums to help shape system-based advocacy and policy development.
Skills
- Level 3 qualification in supporting victims of domestic abuse
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and safeguarding protocols
- Understanding of justice processes and protective measures
- Proficiency in risk assessment tools (e.g., DASH)
- Experience in trauma-informed practice
- Ability to collaborate in multi-agency settings
- Strong advocacy and communication skills
- Record-keeping and case management expertise
